I am very guilty of buying books by Authors I love. It doesn’t always work *cough*The Casual Vacancy*cough* and you do have to check out the blurb before diving in, but here’s a list of ten books I can’t wait to read by tried and tested authors!
Also please ignore the weird bold thing my phone was doing, it’s a little slow in the morning.
1. Magnus Chase by Rick Riordan
After the second Trials of Apollo I’m sort of going off Rick Riordans books a little bit, I know tragic. But I did enjoy the first Magnus Chase so I might say goodbye to a world I’ve loved for years with this series.
2. The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
I don’t know what’s got me wanting to read another series by Cassandra Clare all of a sudden, possibly all the Shadowhunters drama on Twitter recently, but I’m thinking of giving her London series a go. See if it’s as funny as The Mortal Instruments was. Also my phone just corrected that to the mortal insurance and I find that too amusing.
3. Midnight by Derek Landy
Demon Road looked scary and the end Skulduggery was a little stomach churning so it is with great trepidation that I accept the challenge of reading Skulduggerys latest adventure.
4. Children of Blood and Bone 2 by Tomi Adeyemi
As far as I know (but feel free to correct me) it has no name, no release date but is definitely a thing. A thing I really want to read.
5. Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamilton
Because the more I mention that I will read this the more chance I have of actually picking it up? Maybe? Yep that totally makes sense.
6. Legendary by Stefanie Gaber
I just finished Caravel and my days it was amazzzzing. Can’t wait to read the sequel, which is already out!
7. On the Come Up by Angie Thomas
I really loved The Hate U Give and can’t wait to see what she writes next!
8. Priory of an Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Might be because the cover is so pretty and has a DRAGON on it (I very much like dragons) that’s making me want to read this novel. However it is a brick so let’s not take this one too seriously…
9. Vicious by VE Schwab
I’ve been really enjoying her Shades of Magic series and since everyone keeps talking about it on Twitter I really want to give it a read.
10. A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
I loved The Kite Runner and And The Mountains Echoed so feel like I’d enjoy another of his books. They’re so powerful, emotive and well written, definitely need tissues if I’m going to attempt this one…

Caraval/ Legendary look great to me too, I want to read those hopefully soon. And Magnus Chase has been on my lost too for a while.

I have not read any Riordan! Isn’t that awful? And I’ve been meaning too for at least a couple of years, since blogging really brought them to my attention (of course I’d seen them before that, but when I started blogging I saw SO much love for his books). Soon!!!

Ah you should! He might not be your cup of tea though, his writing style is very unique! A lot of bloggers do seem to love his novels! If you do try them, tell me what you think 🙂

Great list! A Thousand Splendid Suns is a book I need to read and I want to get to Children of Blood and Bone asap because I think I’m the only person left who hasn’t read it. I’m pretty sure the next one is called Children of Virtue and Vengeance and it’s due to be released in March 2019. 🙂

I binge read several of the Shadowhunters books during a week-long radiation treatment, but I haven’t continued with the series. Maybe someday, but probably not. That’s just how it goes sometimes!

Yeah it’s not at all like Harry Potter, it’s her rebellion book in my opinion- she wrote something that’s so not Harry Potter and I thought that was sort of deliberate? I wasn’t a fan 😝

I’ve seen Vicious on at least two other people’s TBRs! I’m actually the opposite – I read Vicious and loved it, but never got round to reading A Darker Shade of Magic when it came out :O Hope you enjoy Vicious when you manage to read it!!

I’m reading Legendary right now! Well, not this second, but I have been reading it today and will read it some more in a little bit. I’m still working on reading The Mortal Instruments (waiting for the fifth book to become available at the library), but I plan on reading more of her works. There have been a lot of people mentioning Rick Riordan, and I’ve never read anything of his! Maybe I should fix that someday.

Ah how is it??? So jealous! I remember that, I waited for City of Glass to come available at my library for so long that I’d forgotten how City of Bones ended 😂 it was like a two month wait!! Yeah me too, her books are very funny. Ooh you really should! I think if you like Cassandra Clare then you’ll probably enjoy Rick Riordans stuff, they have a similar sense of humour

I would offer to lend you Legendary but it’s signed, so you may have to find your own copy! It is awesome though, even better than Caraval. I’m super excited for COBAB 2, already have it preordered (I think it’s called Children of Virtue and Vengeance). I still have to read the Derek Landy one. Hero At The Fall was kind of a disappointment to me, but I hope you enjoy it. And ah, you have to read Vicious, it’s so good! I also really want to read Priory, though it’s gonna take me like a year and take up half my shelf. Magnus Chase is great, but I kind of feel you on going off Rick Riordan, I haven’t loved the Trials of Apollo books as much as I hoped-I think I’ll probably finish out that series and that will probably be it.

Yeah I’m thinking of giving up on reading Riordan, I’m not a fan of trials of Apollo so probably won’t finish that series tbh

Ha ha it’s okay I’m used to it by now. Yup, I’ve already preordered it 🙂 As was I, I was really expecting it to be super amazing! I’ll let you know if it’s good or not, I have it on preorder as well. I think it may be time to accept that we have grown out of Rick Riordan-very sadly! Well I’ll let you know what I think of the last two books, but the third one was only okay.
