Winter TBR

Tuesday is nearly over but there’s still time to sneak in a Top Ten! Brought to you from the skies as I’m flying back from holiday while typing this! I’ve had such a great holiday exploring markets and castles in the Highlands with my friends.

This week’s topic is Winter TBR. It’s probably a little late in the year to be writing a winter tbr considering how far through the season we are (I’ve already had snow so I’d say winter is well and truly here), but I’d still like to list the books I’m hoping to finish this season!

1. Alex and Eliza

Top of the list but I really want to read this before I go to see Hamilton in February (aaaaahhhh!). So yeah must read this winter.

2. Things a Bright Girl can Do

Been on the tbr for ages but I feel if I don’t read it soon I’ll loose interest and never read it! Let’s hope I can tick it off this winter!

3. Northanger Abbey

Dry, cynical Jane Austen commenting about women’s place in her day? Yep, definitely for me. And my pen pal has been screaming at me to read it for ages.

4. Perfect

I loved reading Flawed recently, it was fantastic. I can’t wait to read Celestine’s final chapter in Perfect. Bring on the dystopian.

5. Legendary

My friend got me a copy for Christmas and I’m all but struggling to stop myself diving into it right now! I absolutely loved Caravel.

6. The Raven King

Because I still haven’t managed to see if they find their Welsh King, despite having it on my Fall TBR.

7. Rose Under Fire

This has been stewing on my tbr for way too long. I really want to read it! Although possibly not around Christmas time since I’ve heard it’s quite sad.

8. The Mime Order

The last on my fall tbr that I didn’t get through. Hopefully winter is the season for this read!

9. Fawkes

I was chatting to my friend about this novel today and she said it would definitely be my sort of thing. And as a girl who never fails to offer good book recommendations I have decided to try request it at the library and give it a read.

10. Crown of Midnight

Second (I think) in the Throne of Glass series I’m hoping to give it a read soon. I didn’t enjoy Throne of Glass massively but I’ve been advised to stick with the series, they get better.

Let’s Compare Notes

So there you have it! The books I’m hoping to read this season! Have you read any of them? Any recommendations? Have a winter tbr of your own? Feel free to drop an opinion or link in the comments section!

  1. The Throne of Glass series definitely gets better!! Don’t give up, even though they are pretty big books. I read Legendary and liked it but it wasn’t as good as Caraval!

      1. Yes, the last book is insanely huge!! It’s like 980 pages or something like that.

I do prefer Tella but I kind of felt like it was too similar and some of the magic was lost, for me. LOL I still enjoyed it but not as much as the first. Could be bc I had no idea what to expect the first time, so it was more of a surprise!

      1. Well it’s always very similar. Persuasion is a beautiful love story between star-crossed lovers. Mansfield Park is this girl that’s in love with her cousin but he doesn’t really see her until she falls for someone else. Anyway they are all amazing

  2. I have only read Crown Of Midnight from your list. I’m going to say that you should totally give that series a chance. It’s a wonderful adventure!

      1. I think I would have been very upset if this book was small. I can understand that long books can sometimes be a pain to read.

  3. I’ve read most of these, except Alex and Eliza (which is also on my Winter TBR), Perfect and Northanger Abbey (not really my kind of thing). I hope you enjoy all of these 🙂
