This Top Ten Tuesday we are thinking of characters we relate to, and, as bookworms, there are many fictional readers just like ourselves.
1. Gansey from The Raven Boys
His love of adventure and lack of dedication to his studies compared to magic may just be every reader. Although, I don’t know about you, but I definitely don’t have the patience to build a model city.
2. Hermione from Harry Potter
Always in the library, taking work far too seriously? Any other bookworms feel this? This was definitely me. My friend, Esther, and I met every morning at 8am at university, headed to the library and only left at dinner time, often to return again in the evening.
3. Lazlo from Strange the Dreamer
Lazlo is difinitively every fantasy reader. Loves books, fairytales and stories, spends his days off in the library, yearning for adventure. Anyone else see themselves here?
4. Elyian from To Kill a Kingdom
An adventurer who dreams of being a pirate. There’s an Elyian in all of us I feel.
5. Amari from Children of Blood and Bone
Amari, not being strongest or fastest of the group, still tries. A feeling I definitely relate to.
6. Kluas from A Series of Unfortunate Events
Although Violet may have been my hero, I feel Klaus was the one we all relate to the most. His love of libraries and stories is definitely infectious.
7. Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird
Being able to read before the rest of the class, thanks to bedtime stories from her dad, but being told she’d been taught wrong is just the sort of rubbish bad English teachers say to us bookworms.
8. Lila from A Darker Shade of Magic
While many readers will not be able to relate to much of Lila’s personality, unless you’re a knife twirling orphan who grew up homeless on the streets of King George’s London. But the longing for adventure and love of pirates? Hello.
9. Scarlet from Caravel
Scarlet is the more hesitant sybling, just trying to keep her family safe at all costs. She is slightly more relatable than most protagonists because she doesn’t have masses of natural athleticism or powerful magic or anything.
10. Annabeth from Percy Jackson
Annabeth is the daughter of Athena. She is a lot smarter than her other half, Percy, knowing all the Greek myths and a clear bookworm. If I went to Camp Half Blood I’d definitely be the one spouting all the Greek Myths. Then I’d probably run and hide.
Lets Compare Notes
So there you have it! My list of ten book characters I see myself in. Do you see yourself in any of them too? Have a list of your own? Feel free to share a link or opinion in the comments!
Great list! Lazlo and Hermione ended up on my list this week, too. I just can’t resist a bookworm!

Awesome list and I love that a couple people have Scarlet on their list because I would’ve said her as well. I’m certainly the more caution person and more likely to follow the rules. I love Tella but she makes me nervous LOL

Aw did you not make a list this week? Haha yeah, we’re all Scarlet’s really π yeah I prefer Tella but think I’m more of a Scarlet

I love your reasoning behind Scout. My mom taught me how to read when I was 4 in preparation for a cross country move. She wanted to make sure I could occupy myself on the drive. But you always get that one awful teacher that thinks because they didn’t teach you, it’s not right.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!

Yes to Lila Bard! I can also relate to Emily (Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson) especially during my teenage years. Socially awkward, conscious in front of other people, introvert. I am still like that until now though. π

Not read Since You’ve Been Gone! Haha glad you found a character you can relate too!

Great picks for this week, and I loved your twist in the topic as well. Hermione has been on a lot of lists this week (and I wish I included her on mine as well) and I think she is the first character a lot of readers would have been able to relate to when they first picked up Harry Potter. That was definitely the case for me at least!
Great post. π β€οΈ

Haha thanks, just thought a lot of people would relate to those Characters π yeah I think so too, although I didn’t when I first read HP because I was less big on school and doing work and things, although I grew into a real Hermione pretty quickly π
