My Summer TBR

Hello bookworms and happy Tuesday! It’s the most exciting day of the week because it’s list writing and posting day (I know, my days are super exciting). This Top Ten Tuesday topic is where I get to pledge to read ten more books this season, and then undoubtedly forget about this list, read what I want and look again in the fall and realise I’ve failed. But hey, let’s not dwell, on with the list!

1. A Curse so Dark and Lonely

It’s got a curse, and it’s pretty dark and the people in it do seem really lonely. Just what it says on the tin!

2. Red Queen

Funny story. You know how most Bookworms have a hoarding problem? Well I have one too! Only I hoard other people’s books! Hahaha, yeah my friends must love me. Anyway, I borrowed this book a while ago and said I’d return it to my friend at YALC so I guess it’s now or never with reading it.

3. Heartless

This has a similar story. I know I know I’m bad at reading borrowed books.

4. One of Us is Lying

This just sounds so good. And the author is at YALC so I’m hoping to get it signed.

5. Moby Dick

Oh my gosh this book is soooooo boring. I’ve read all of five pages so I should know. Anyway, perseverance in the face of adversity and all, hopefully I’ll finish it soon 🤞🤞

These books are somewhat unrelated but let’s ignore that

6. Finale

Am I ready to see all power fates that escaped a deck of cards fight two sisters and their unconscious mother? Yeah I am.

7. Shadow and Bone

Everyone loved these books and I just don’t like feeling left out, ok?

8. Stalking Jack the Ripper

Again, I just want to feel included 😭

9. Viscous

I got a really pretty copy of this (the one with the stripes!) to get signed at YALC and I’m just so excited to read more VE Schwab.

10. King of Fools

After how Ace of Shades finished? Yeah I’m going to need this. Also I’ve heard such good things.

Let’s Compare Notes

There you have it! My summer tbr. What’s on yours? Have you read any of these books? Feel free to leave a link, fangirl squeal or even a heartfelt appreciation of one of these great works of literature in the comments section.

  1. Hahaha love your reaction to Moby Dick! I made it a summer goal to read it a few years ago and basically ended up skimming (read: flipping past) countless pages about the history of whaling…. just not my cup of tea! Anyways, happy reading! 🙂

  2. Okay, why are you bothering with Moby Dick? Seriously! Oh well… never mind… I love reading these even when I’m not participating (I just published another author interview on my blog instead). You might want to take a look – Jane Davis is an amazing author!

  3. I feel your pain on feeling like your left out! There are a million books everyone loves and I’m too much of a slow reader to keep up with things. I have Red Queen on my physical tbr. I have for ages! Kind of lost interest in it though. Good luck on getting to these books!

    1. I know! This is exactly my problem, and everyone online seems to read 100s of books a year and I only ever read about 30 😳 yeah I have the physical copy too, but haven’t got round to it yet 😂 why’s you loose interest? thanks! Good luck on getting to yours too!

  4. Great list! I’ve read most of these: Vicious and Heartless are probably my favourites of the ones you have here. Finale was good, but I was a little disappointed. A Curse So Dark and Lonely I was expecting a lot more from, I heard so much good stuff and I found it kind of meh? Shadow and Bone is okay, but I definitely prefer Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom to her first trilogy. One of Us Is Lying was again one of those that everyone was raving over that I thought was only okay, same with Red Queen. And I know you know how much I love King of Fools!

    1. I’ll possibly read Heartless next, I love the cover. Glad to hear you liked it! Don’t say that I’m so excited for Finale 😭 it had a lot to live up to tbf. I’m actually going really enjoying it but I didn’t have too many expectations going on (possibly because I read your review or you told me it wasn’t amazing?) I’ve heard Six of Crows is better but I want to start at the beginning and also just want to own all the pretty Shadow and Bone covers 😂😍 ooh I didn’t know you’d read One of Us is Lying or Red Queen! They are quite hyped up, but not as much as some books I’d say. Especially Red Queen, I feel noones talking about lately 😂 probably cos it’s quite old. I’m so excited for King of Fools! I need to make a list of books I’ll buy at YALC, that ones like top 😍

      1. It is gorgeous. It’s still good, just compared to Legendary, it’s not as good. Ah I’m glad that you’ve been really enjoying it, it’s good that one of us did. The new Shadow and Bone covers are gorgeous, tbf you’ll probably be able to get them at YALC as well! I read One of Us Is Lying about two years ago, I got an ARC from Netgalley just before it came out and Red Queen I think I read about 3 years ago? It was a while back anyway! Yeah, the whole series is out now, so I think people are more talking about the last book than the first ones. Ha ha it’s going to be a pretty long list!

  5. I’m bad at borrowing books as well because I get attached and don’t want to let go, that’s why I don’t borrow books anymore. Viscious is awesome, I loved it! One of Us is Lying was fun too and it’s one of those quickreads. Haven’t read Shadow and Bone or King of Fools but I know everybody has read them and I need to do it someday. As you know, I’m excited to read Finale too! I’d love to know your thought once you’ve read it. Btw, where did you get that beautiful copy of Caraval?

    1. Oh my gosh, literally me. Glad you loved it! Have you read ADSOM? Ooh a quick read would be good for my Goodreads goal 😂 yeah everyone is talking about those books! It’s the English paperback version! But I had to get the hardback of Legendary because the paper back is disgustingly orange 😬

      1. I haven’t read ADSOM actually but I have the trilogy as a paperback waiting for me. Have you? Yes if you want a quickread that’s it lol. Well I love that spine it’s so gorgeous! I want it.
I haven’t seen the UK version of Legendary but I belive you if you say it’s not as pretty.

  6. Some really good choices here! I need to read A Curse So Dark And Lonely as well. And I need to go back and read Shadow and Bone because I read it years ago and then never went on with it and now like you, I am feeling super left out of this world!
