It may not have slipped your notice that is now July. The month of YALC and our annual heatwave (pretty please). Here’s how I spent the first month of summer: June.
What I Read
π³ Uprooted – loved the world, loved the plot, hated the characters. Anyone else?
π³A Curse so Dark and Lonely – curse was pretty dark and everyone seemed quite lonely, so all in all a success!
π³ Some of Moby Dick – I don’t know if I’ll get back to it or not, but let’s just say the riveting talk of whaling doesn’t have me hooked.
What I wrote
𧑠Becoming by Michelle Obama – I wrote up my review for this fantastic autobiography!
𧑠My Unpopular Bookish Opinions – this post was soooo fun π
𧑠Are Our Ships Empowering Readers – a rare discussion post appeared on my blog where I spoke about whether the ships in YA are portraying healthy ideals to impressionable readers.
𧑠Asking for It – everyone should read the book, the message is so important. And you can find out why in my review!
What I Read Online
π If you Liked this, Try this LGBTQ+ Book – LGBTQ+afie your next read with these suggested equivalents for popular novels.
π Are Book Reviews Underappreciated – I never really thought about this before, but what a great topic!
π What do Your Bookshelves Say About You – what can you gleen about a bookworm from their book shelves?
π The National Day Challenge – I got tagged in this and it sounds really fun! And so unusual!
What I Did
π₯ I Spent a Week Working As A Wildlife Conservationist – I went to the lovely Exmoor coast (featured above) to work for a week looking after animals and plants (all described in the attached post!)
π₯ Had a sunny picnic – it got to the balmy heights of 35 degrees here in London so my friends and I grabbed a picnic blanket and some questionable snacks, that may have been left out in the sun the weekend before, and headed for a sunny hill.
π₯ Did a 10k– I did my first official run, in what was apparently a challenging and not beginner friendly route. Yuck, all the hills.
π₯ Visited another Castle – is there a month when I don’t visit a castle, somewhere? This time it was the lovely Arundel.
Thanks so much for featuring my post! π Looks like June was a pretty good month for you. I felt much the same way about Uprooted when I read it last year. And your description of A Curse So Dark and Lonely made me laugh π

Fun getting to visit castles!
I hope to read Uprooted someday. I hope if I do, I like the characters more than you did.
