Summer TBR: The Results

Oh look it’s cold again. Yay…

But with the cold weather and crispy red leaves comes a new season, and a new season means a new tbr, and a new tbr means well you get the idea. For a slightly off topic and nothing to do with numbers Top Ten Tuesday, here what I did (and didn’t) manage to read this summer. The umbrella means I failed to finish and often start the novel this summer.

A Curse So Dark and Lonely

⭐⭐⭐⭐

1 We’re off to a cracking start because not only did I read this but I loved it and watch tomorrows post because there might be a review in the pipeline!

Red Queen

2 So far we’re doing well! Although less well because I actually hated this book. The protagonist was just problematic. Again, watch this space, review sitting in my drafts and definitely publishing soon.

Heartless

⭐⭐⭐⭐

3 Wasn’t Cath just so perfect? Until she became the Queen of Hearts that is. Urg this novel was just excellent.

One of Us Is Lying

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

4 I read this novel in about 2 days. It had me gripped, and I just couldn’t put it down. Prepare for a very gushy review soon.

Moby Dick

5 I find it hilarious that I said ‘perserverence in the face of adversity’ when I originally wrote my summer tbr, then promptly returned the book to the library and haven’t thought about it since. Hahaha oops.

Finale

⭐⭐⭐⭐

6 Oh this book was fantastic. Except for everything that happened in Tella’s love life, of which I was not a fan. But otherwise, fantastic.

Shadow and Bone

7 I actually brought a copy so kudos for that, right?

Stalking Jack the Ripper

8 I don’t even know what happened with this one, I just didn’t even really try.

Vicious

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

9 I loved A Darker Shade of Magic and my of Vicious, the pretty cover with the cream background and dark painted bones on front which I got signed and personalised over summer, was my most highly anticipated read on this list. And, crazily enough, I actually read it! And loved it, I am in desperate need of Vengeful now.

King of Fools

X How do I still not know what is happening with Levi and Ennie?! Urg, I disappoint myself.

Let’s Compare Notes

So there you have it! My somewhat successful, because we’re being optimistic here and I got 6/10 which is a solid 2:1 at university, summer tbr results. Have you read any of these books? Any on your tbr as well? Have a Top Ten Tuesday that’s vaguely about numbers? Would love to hear from you, either way, in the comments!

  1. Do you think you’ll try to read Moby Dick again anytime soon? I’ve had a similar experience with that book. Ha!

  2. I’ve never had a desire to read Moby Dick, and I feel okay about that. Maybe I shouldn’t?? Ha! I have Heartless sitting on my shelf. Hopefully I’ll get to it someday. Great list! Here’s my TTT

  3. Hurray for loving ACSDAL! It’s one of my fave books of the year ❤

I'm intrigued to read your review for Red Queen – of course I'm not HAPPY you didn't like it, but I really enjoy reviews about problematic characters, lol.

One of Us Is Lying is SO GOOD, I'm dying with the wait for the sequel! then again, I didn't imagine it would even HAVE a sequel, so I should count myself lucky…

    1. It’s so good 😍 now I neeeedddd the sequel 😳 haha I really enjoy reading ranty reviews too 😂 and writing them, I’m basically a horrible reader 😂 oh my gosh I loved One of Us is Lying! And I was positive it would be overhyped and I’m so proud of myself for avoiding spoilers 😍 ah I know! She has released another book and I’m definitely going to read that one too, in case it’s ever half as good 😂😍
