First things first, it is of course Christmas so very happy Christmas!! Hope you are having a fun filled day but don’t stress out too much if it’s not, because you have this great (ish) blog post to cheer you up!
Anyway, the topic for this Top Ten Tuesday was books I want to receive under the tree, but I suspect I’ll only receive one book this year – Legendary, thank you very much good friend Jo- so thought I’d take a final look at my Fall TBR and assess how well I did.
1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
⭐⭐⭐
I finally know what all the hype was about! Well, I don’t actually because I didn’t think this novel was that amazing but I’ve been told the series gets better and will be reading the next one as part of my Winter TBR!
2. The Railway Man by Eric Lomaz
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I absolutely loved it! The only non fiction book I read this year (if we’re not including stuff for university, which we’re not) and it was amazing. I’m going to try read more non fiction next year I think, since this was so good.
3. The Raven King by Maggie Steivfater
❌
Whoops.
4. A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I’m currently reading this! So yeah I’m going to count it as a sort of success and do something I’ve not done before and pre rate. Providing it doesn’t suddenly become horrendous this is my predicted rating!
5. To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I just published my review for this and gave it all the stars because it was amazing 😍
6. Magnus Chase and The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan
⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed this novel, but wasn’t crazily blown away. Also I had a dream about being forced to marry a troll last night and for some reason fended off this prospect by attacking said troll with water bending, so possibly it was more impactful than I give it credit for 🤔
7. Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamiliton
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This novel was amazing! I loved the plot, the writing, the characters. But had to dock the star because it felt a bit rushed and I wasn’t a fan of how Leila turned out (there can be strong, female antagonists too right?! They don’t all have to be the good guys.)
8. The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon
❌
It’s on my Winter TBR so let’s not give up all hope just yet.
9. Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz
❌
Can you tell where I got up to on this list? Hehe oops.
10. Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein
❌
I want to read more historical fiction next year actually (I’m thinking of making a post with 2019 reading goals and this will be one of them, but that largely depends on how busy my new year is…) So yeah, hopefully I’ll read this this winter and definitely some point in 2019!
Let’s Compare Notes
So what have you read these last few months? Have you tried any of these? Do you agree with my ratings? Would love to hear from you or read your list so feel free, as always, to drop a link or opinion in the comments section!
