My Spring TBR

Hello all! Another Tuesday, another Top Ten, this time all about the novels I’ll be reading this Spring!

1. Muse of Nightmares

My first book from a publisher!!! I’m on the blog tour for the paperback release of Muse and I just can’t wait to step back into Weep.

2. Rose Under Fire

I put this novel on hold since I got accepted for the blog tour of Muse and had to finish Strange the Dreamer pretty snappish. Hopefully I can get back to it since I left Rose in a terrible place 😬

3. Six of Crows

Bit slow to the party but with every other blogger seemingly loving this series I am going to try read it!

4. Madame Bovary

Part of my Gilmore Girls Challenge! I don’t have a clue how I’ll get hold of it given its not on the library system but might as well put it down anyway.

5. Moby Dick

Another part of the same challenge! I have managed to get a copy of this at the library, I’m just waiting for it to be returned since someone else has it out currently.

6. A Conjuring of Light

I am so desperate to start this novel. After the ending of A Gathering of Shadows 😲

7. Perfect

I know, I know. Literally been on my tbr for so long now. Maybe Spring will be the season I wrap up this dystopian? And actually publish the review for Flawed I’ve got in drafts while I’m at it.

8. The Cruel Prince

Am I the only book blogger ever to have not read this?! Everyone is raving about it so I felt I should make a stab at it.

9. Asking for It

One of the few novels I haven’t read that I own! Hopefully I can finish it this season?

10. Crown of Midnight

Second in the Throne of Glass series and on my tbr for ages. Maybe this quarter 🤔😝

Let’s Compare Notes

So there you have it! My tbr! Have you read any of these? Have any on your list? Feel free to share a list or opinion in the comments! I’ll have another list post up soon, not on a Tuesday (😲) all about how I did on my winter tbr! Stay tuned to see what I read and what I forgot all about 😬

10 Books I’ve just Added to my TBR

I’m sitting on a train currently freezing as I type this. The January snow has definitely arrived. What’s more I have a crazy busy week of after work dinners, training, friends, and a random trip to Bristol coming up this week- can you tell the first pay day since we all went broke on Christmas has just occurred?

But there’s one more thing January is: the month of tbr growth. Bloggers make lists of upcoming releases or the best books of 2018, readathons are planned and, finally, I look at my the pile of books I meant to read last year and weep. Basically my tbr is currently toppling over. But I’ve easily got a new ten novels just added to it.

Just a TBR note: I don’t have a physical one really, not when the library want each book returned within three weeks. I just go in there and request books so that’s what I consider to be a tbr really.

1. Enchantee

Coming out soon, I am so buzzed for this Parisian setting, fantasy novel. And I have heard nothing but great things of the proofs so far (also did anyone see those covers posted on Twitter yesterday?!) 😍

2. Daughter of Smoke and Bone

I was reading a glowing review of this yesterday and that has really spurred me into action. This book sounds amazing and doesn’t deserve the layer of dust it has no doubt accumulated sitting on my shelf since YALC.

3. The Cruel Prince

The hype for it’s sequel is currently doing the rounds on Twitter and I’ve been assured it’s not too romance heavy so it may be sneaking its way to the top of my very lengthy tbr.

4. Six of Crows

Because King of Scars is coming out and I don’t like feeling left out.

5. Finale

Can I add a book that isn’t yet out to my tbr? Who knows. But having just finished Legendary we can safely assume this book will be consumed immediately when it is released.

6. A Conjuring of Light

You know how you sort of have tiers in a tbr? Where the inner tier are books you’ll read this month and the outer ones are ‘eh I’ll get to it soon’ sort of thing? Just me? Oh well. Suffice to say after the glorious read that was A Gathering of Shadows this novel has progressed to a new ‘must read now’ tier.

7. We Hunt the Flames

I’ve seen this lad on Twitter quite a bit lately and am still in two minds of whether I’ll read it (because you can’t always trust hype). It’s teetering on the edge of my tbr for this year.

8. The Surface Breaks

My friend has offered to lend me a copy if she likes it so I am even more excited to get this Little Mermaid retelling into my hands.

9. The Infernal Devices

One of my friends is desperate to fangirl (guy? He’s a guy but I feel ‘fangirl’ is just a general term?) with me on this series and I have promised to pick up a Cassandra Clare again. Hopefully it’ll be good, I last read them when I was quite young…

10. On the Come Up

Another book that hasn’t yet been released! I’m not doing great here. Anyway having just seen the proofs on Twitter and with the excitement of her UK tour announcement (which I’m still not sure if I’ll attend, £15 is a lot when you don’t get the book!), I’m very excited for this novel! The Hate U Give was brilliant!!

Let’s Compare Notes

So there you have it! My recent tbr additions. What are you have just added to your tbr? Do you have a physical collection? Would love to hear from you in the comments!

How I did with my TBR

First things first, it is of course Christmas so very happy Christmas!! Hope you are having a fun filled day but don’t stress out too much if it’s not, because you have this great (ish) blog post to cheer you up!

Anyway, the topic for this Top Ten Tuesday was books I want to receive under the tree, but I suspect I’ll only receive one book this year – Legendary, thank you very much good friend Jo- so thought I’d take a final look at my Fall TBR and assess how well I did.

1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

⭐⭐⭐

I finally know what all the hype was about! Well, I don’t actually because I didn’t think this novel was that amazing but I’ve been told the series gets better and will be reading the next one as part of my Winter TBR!

2. The Railway Man by Eric Lomaz

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I absolutely loved it! The only non fiction book I read this year (if we’re not including stuff for university, which we’re not) and it was amazing. I’m going to try read more non fiction next year I think, since this was so good.

3. The Raven King by Maggie Steivfater

Whoops.

4. A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I’m currently reading this! So yeah I’m going to count it as a sort of success and do something I’ve not done before and pre rate. Providing it doesn’t suddenly become horrendous this is my predicted rating!

5. To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I just published my review for this and gave it all the stars because it was amazing 😍

6. Magnus Chase and The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan

⭐⭐⭐

I enjoyed this novel, but wasn’t crazily blown away. Also I had a dream about being forced to marry a troll last night and for some reason fended off this prospect by attacking said troll with water bending, so possibly it was more impactful than I give it credit for 🤔

7. Hero at the Fall by Alwyn Hamiliton

⭐⭐⭐⭐

This novel was amazing! I loved the plot, the writing, the characters. But had to dock the star because it felt a bit rushed and I wasn’t a fan of how Leila turned out (there can be strong, female antagonists too right?! They don’t all have to be the good guys.)

8. The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon

It’s on my Winter TBR so let’s not give up all hope just yet.

9. Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz

Can you tell where I got up to on this list? Hehe oops.

10. Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein

I want to read more historical fiction next year actually (I’m thinking of making a post with 2019 reading goals and this will be one of them, but that largely depends on how busy my new year is…) So yeah, hopefully I’ll read this this winter and definitely some point in 2019!

Let’s Compare Notes

So what have you read these last few months? Have you tried any of these? Do you agree with my ratings? Would love to hear from you or read your list so feel free, as always, to drop a link or opinion in the comments section!

Winter TBR

Tuesday is nearly over but there’s still time to sneak in a Top Ten! Brought to you from the skies as I’m flying back from holiday while typing this! I’ve had such a great holiday exploring markets and castles in the Highlands with my friends.

This week’s topic is Winter TBR. It’s probably a little late in the year to be writing a winter tbr considering how far through the season we are (I’ve already had snow so I’d say winter is well and truly here), but I’d still like to list the books I’m hoping to finish this season!

1. Alex and Eliza

Top of the list but I really want to read this before I go to see Hamilton in February (aaaaahhhh!). So yeah must read this winter.

2. Things a Bright Girl can Do

Been on the tbr for ages but I feel if I don’t read it soon I’ll loose interest and never read it! Let’s hope I can tick it off this winter!

3. Northanger Abbey

Dry, cynical Jane Austen commenting about women’s place in her day? Yep, definitely for me. And my pen pal has been screaming at me to read it for ages.

4. Perfect

I loved reading Flawed recently, it was fantastic. I can’t wait to read Celestine’s final chapter in Perfect. Bring on the dystopian.

5. Legendary

My friend got me a copy for Christmas and I’m all but struggling to stop myself diving into it right now! I absolutely loved Caravel.

6. The Raven King

Because I still haven’t managed to see if they find their Welsh King, despite having it on my Fall TBR.

7. Rose Under Fire

This has been stewing on my tbr for way too long. I really want to read it! Although possibly not around Christmas time since I’ve heard it’s quite sad.

8. The Mime Order

The last on my fall tbr that I didn’t get through. Hopefully winter is the season for this read!

9. Fawkes

I was chatting to my friend about this novel today and she said it would definitely be my sort of thing. And as a girl who never fails to offer good book recommendations I have decided to try request it at the library and give it a read.

10. Crown of Midnight

Second (I think) in the Throne of Glass series I’m hoping to give it a read soon. I didn’t enjoy Throne of Glass massively but I’ve been advised to stick with the series, they get better.

Let’s Compare Notes

So there you have it! The books I’m hoping to read this season! Have you read any of them? Any recommendations? Have a winter tbr of your own? Feel free to drop an opinion or link in the comments section!
