How Many of My Favourite Fantasy Reads Have You Read?

Hello hello and happy Tuesday! Todays Top Ten Tuesday is all about our favourite genre and mine is fantasy so here are my 10 favourite fantasy reads: how many have you read?

1. A Darker Shade of Magic

We got pirates, princes and the best enemies, what more can you want?

“I’d rather die on an adventure than live standing still”

2. The Raven Boys

Posh boys looking for a bit more magic? Yep, this undoubtedly doesn’t end well.

“She wasn’t interested in telling other people’s futures. She was interested in going out and finding her own”

3. City of Bones

Our snarky, arrogant, hilarious love interest realising he’s super powerful. Prepare for a side splitting adventure.

“Don’t touch any of my weapons without my permission.”

“Well, there goes my plan to sell them on eBay,” Clary muttered

4. Children of Blood and Bone

We got magic, evil rulers and treacherous royalty. What more could you want?

“Courage does not always roar. Valor does not always shine.”

5. Caravel

All the best fantasy include an impossible game and the odd missing family member, right?

Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything

6. To Kill a Kingdom

There’s ships, magic, sass and banter. Can you think of more me book?

“Lies aren’t answers.”

“But they sound so much better than the truth”

7. Harry Potter

There’s this wizard and he has a scar and, well, you know the rest.

“Do you remember me telling you we are practicing non-verbal spells, Potter?”

“Yes,” said Harry stiffly.

“Yes, sir.”

“There’s no need to call me “sir” Professor.”

8. Strange the Dreamer

Fairy tales, adventure, a couple of ghosts and crazy magical kids thrown in there for good measure.

“It was impossible, of course. But when did that ever stop any dreamer from dreaming”

9. Rebel of the Sands

We couldn’t very well get to the end of the list with just one tyrannical leader, could we?

“She moved like a storm someone had given steel to”

10. Percy Jackson

They say the best stories are based on facts, but I’m pretty sure the best stories are based on myths.

“Wow,” Thalia muttered. “Apollo is hot.”

“He’s the sun god,” I said.

“That’s not what I meant.”

  1. I`m really happy to see Rebel of The Sands on your list. Although it has a Goodreads award if I`m not mistaken, it`s such an underrated series. I really hope I`ll be able to read the Shades of Magic trilogy this summer.

  2. I used to read fantasy all the time, but these days I’m more into the sci-fi stuff. I think I should try more modern fantasy, though! Great list.

    My TTT.

  3. I love how you included quotes in this TTT! I’ve read To Kill a Kingdom, Rebels of the Sands, The Raven Boys, City of Bones, and Caraval, so 5, but I’ve only read the first books in all of these series! 😅 wow, I really need to get better about finishing series.
And I’m such a fake fantasy book nerd— I still haven’t read Harry Potter 😬

      1. Continuing on with series is so hard, isn’t it?
And aha, good to know! Hopefully someday I’ll get around to it…

  4. I’ve read four of them. I’d like to read City of Bones again. I just got Ghosts of the Shadow Market less than an hour ago, so I’ll probably want to read it even more after I finish reading it!

  5. I’ve read all of these except for Strange the Dreamer (or any of Laini Taylor’s books, oops, I’ve been meaning to for literal years). To Kill a Kingdom was definitely a stand-out for me because it was such a surprise that I liked it so much.

  6. I have read 2,3, 5 & 8. I have #1 & #4 on my June TBR, so I will get to them very soon! I am half way through the Harry Potter books. I’m reading them aloud to my kids. 6,9 & 10 are on my TBR.
