10 Quotes Every Reader Will Love

It’s Tuesday! And today’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is just perfect. If you follow me on Twitter you will have noticed I love sharing unusual quotes from my current reads, and I’m all buzzed to share with you all my top ten bookish quotes.

Also, I’ve included the reviews I got them from (all my reviews are adorned with book quotes), so don’t be too harsh on the varying and strange formats, I don’t know what I was doing either πŸ˜‚

I’d rather die on an adventure than live standing still

A Darker Shade of Magic

My Review

First up and it’s one of my favourites. I just love this quote from Lila, the pickpocket who dreams of seeing the world.

“Maybe a lionaire lives in me after all”

Children of Blood and Bone

My Review

I love this quote! Especially since it’s from Amari, who’s story arc is one of my favourite ever in YA.

Everyone is a blank canvas, waiting to be filled with the colour of discovery”

To Kill a Kingdom

my Review

Honestly, it was tough to pick which quote I wanted from To Kill a Kingdom, everything Lira says was hilarious. But the adventurer in me loved this one.

“It’s not like there’s a law against flying.”

β€œYes there is. The law of gravity”

Daughter of Smoke and Bone

My Review

I don’t know if it’s because I loved physics at school or just find Zuzana’s particular flavour of dry humour so funny but this quote was easy to love.

But in a solitary life, there are rare moments when another soul dips near yours, as stars once a year brush the earth

Circe

My Review

If your quote has stars in it there’s a high chance I’ll love it, don’t ask me why.

There were no books to hide behind, and no shadows- only Lazlo Strange in his work gray robes, with his nose that had been broken by fairy tales, looking like the hero of no story ever told.”

Strange the Dreamer

My Review

And it will not surprise you that Laini Taylor is on here twice. Also Strange is just the perfect bookish hero 😭

β€œHave you fallen in love with the wrong person yet?’ Jace said, “Unfortunately, Lady of the Haven, my one true love remains myself.”

“At least,” she said, “you don’t have to worry about rejection, Jace Wayland.”

City of Bones

I had to wack a City of Bones, that novel had my sides splitting when I read it years ago.

β€œWe would be stories long after we were gone. Imperfect, inaccurate stories. Stories that could never even come close to reality

Hero at the Fall

My Review

I could put everything Alwyn Hamilton writes in this quotes list, her writing is so pretty.

“Doors are for people with no imagination”

Skulduggery Pleasant

This quote will always have a special place in my heart since it forms one of my favourite YALC moments: asking Derek Landy to say this quote in a Skulduggery type Irish voice. Which he and my friend and I found hilarious.

Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything

Caravel

My Review

Ok, it’s a cheeky 11 but what quotes list can not have a quote about fate from Caravel?!

Let’s Compare Notes

There you have it! My ten(ish) favourite book quotes! Do you recognise any? Have you read any of these books? Would love to hear your opinions, or drop a link to your own list, in the comments section!

I loved the quote from Circe, I really want to read the book soon. I loved The Song of Achilles so I’ll probably love this one too. Great list!

I love the Daughter of Smoke and Bone and To Kill a Kingdom quotes. I also like how Jace says (somewhere else in that book) that he turns himself down every once in a while just to make things interesting. I should probably reread those at some point, now that I have the main books in that series.
